The following is a letter from Dennis and Diane Saucier. Dennis is the AMEN Ministry Director now after the retirement of Don and Harriet Yelton from more than 40 years of service.
Dear AMEN Supporter,
As I write this letter the leaves have fallen and our first snow fall began this morning a little early even by New England standards. To say the least, this has been an unusual autumn from many different perspectives. The Presidential election this year has revealed both apprehension and hope from our citizens as we prepare to go to the polls. Some of this uncertainty focuses on the world situation and the need to strengthen our Armed Forces in the face of security threats ranging from eastern Europe to the Korean peninsula. There is not much doubt that our military men and women will be called upon to counter threats for quite some time into the future.
For AMEN this is also a time of hope and anticipation for the future. On October 16, the Hendersonville Church elders dedicated their worship service to pay tribute to Don and Harriet Yelton for their 40 years of service to AMEN. I was privileged to give a presentation on what AMEN has accomplished including the Locator Service, the European retreats, and the morale packages to our troops. A beautiful shadowbox with an American flag, emblems from each of the military services and an inscription was presented to the Yeltons with thanks for their leadership. As I made my presentation, I made a promise that our military brethren would not be spiritually abandoned. AMEN will continue as an effective resource to build up the faith of those who are called to the far reaches of the world in defense of our liberty. To make this possible, I welcome the Manchester, Connecticut Church of Christ elders who now serve as the shepherds of this ministry for the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus.
As the need of military Christians is still there, I've received a request for information on worship services at Al Dhafra in the United Arable Emirates which I am working. The recruiting of Key Men is an ongoing task and I'm happy to report that we now have Key Men in three locations. Chief Master Sergeant Lew Holston is our contact at a deployed location in the Persian Gulf; Lt Bryon Breeding is a contact on board the USS Eisenhower; Clifton and Ashlee Helpingstine, and Kenny and Amanda Wood are Key Man couples for RAF Lakenheath. I've made connections for a Sailor assigned the NAS Sigonella, Italy and an Airman heading to Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. Finally, I confirmed a marriage workshop for the Ventura, CA Church of Christ serving the naval stations at Port Mugu and Port Huenheme in February. All this is made possible by your donations which have benefitted our military brethren and encouraged their faith journey in Christ.
Yours in Christ,
Dennis and Diane Saucier
AMEN Ministry Director
